Cristian Romero to leave Spurs early in favour of national team preparations

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero has reportedly chosen to return to Argentina instead of being present for Spurs’ final match of the season.
Tottenham’s Premier League future remains uncertain heading into the last fixture of the 2025/26 campaign.
If Spurs suffer defeat against Everton and West Ham overcome Leeds United, Roberto De Zerbi’s men could face relegation to the Championship.
In a surprising development, Romero — currently sidelined through injury — has decided not to attend what could become one of the most important matches in the club’s recent history.
The 28-year-old is set to return to Argentina instead, where he will watch his boyhood club Belgrano face River Plate.
Although currently injured, Romero had remained actively involved around the squad in recent weeks and was seen celebrating with Mathys Tel following his goal against Leeds United
