Għaxaq Wolves AFC crowned MAFA champions once again

Għaxaq Wolves AFC were declared champions of the MAFA First Division following a 2-2 draw against Marsa St Michael, a result that proved sufficient to secure the title with one match still to play.
The draw confirmed Għaxaq Wolves’ dominance within the association, as they claimed their fourth consecutive league title, continuing a remarkable rise from the Third Division to the top tier.
Marsa St Michael took the lead through Coutinho Junior Joao Marcello in the 28th minute, but Geonaga Cervantes Bryan Alfredo equalised for Għaxaq on 35 minutes. In the second half, Zvezden Vukovic put Għaxaq ahead on 65 minutes, before Marsa rescued a point in stoppage time through Ayoubah Fona.
The trophy presentation is scheduled for 16 May following their final fixture against San Ġiljan Saints. The match referee was Paul Apap.
In another First Division encounter, Balluta Barracudas FC and San Ġiljan Saints shared the points in a 2-2 draw. San Ġiljan led 2-0 at half-time through goals by Ionut Popescu and Julien Muller, but Balluta responded in the second half with strikes from Timmy Naudi and Andrea Lorefice. The referee was Ray Tabone.
In the Second Division, Birżebbuġa St Peter’s AFC secured promotion to the First Division alongside Attard Edex Kings AFC after defeating Mqabba Albions 3-1. The match was abandoned at half-time following on-field incidents. Ronnie Celeste scored twice, with Oussama Boutayeb adding a third, while Gildave Brignone netted for Mqabba. The referee was Jean Pierre Sammut.
Swieqi United AFC recorded a comprehensive 5-0 win over Naxxar Victorians, with Federico Della Gatta scoring twice. Philippe Gla Henri, Sebral Dos Santos Leonardo and Suhail Manthrammal were also on target. The referee was Lorry Sammut.
Attard Edex Kings AFC defeated Hamrun Sporting 3-2, with Johan Andrey Rodriguez Gutierrez netting a brace and Nestor Luis Silva also scoring. Daniel Aghen and Junior Ohalewe replied for Ħamrun. The referee was Gordon Barbara.
Finally, Gudja Wanderers beat Ta’ Ġiorni Wanderers 3-0, with Brandon Nieto scoring a hat-trick and Jimenez Guevara adding another goal. The referee was Miguel Francica.
