In truly summer-like conditions, Antoine Magaud of The Cyclist by Agones claimed overall victory in the 30th edition of the Visit Malta Tour of Malta, securing his second title after also winning in 2023, matching Giuseppe Di Salvo’s achievement of two Tour victories.

Magaud sealed the title by winning the final race on the St Paul’s Bay Bypass circuit, covering 45.1km in 1:36:24, for a total tour time of 3:54:52. Teammate Kai Azzopardi finished second in both the final stage and overall classification with a time of 1:40:24 (4:03:06), while fellow The Cyclist by Agones rider and debutant Andrei Cassone placed third overall in 1:40:24 (4:03:31). In the Maltese overall classification, Kai Azzopardi emerged as the top local rider (4:03:06), followed by Andrei Cassone in second (4:03:31) and Clive Ebejer of Team Greens in third (4:32:59).

The women’s competition was won by Ellie Mitchinson (Brother UK – On Form), who completed the final 36.8km stage in 1:27:44, securing an overall winning time of 3:46:21. Defending champion Gemma Mitchell (FTP Racing Team) finished second overall in 3:46:38, while Margerita Di Martino (ASD Bike Queen Sicilia) claimed third in 3:54:57. In the Maltese Women’s Classification, Ella Friedlander (Cycle Club Ashwell – UK) finished first with an overall time of 4:10:37, ahead of Michelle Vella Wood (4:20:21) and Katinka Zahra Lehtonen (5:18:55), both representing Team Greens. Unfortunately, three other cyclists from the same team, Marie Claire Aquilina, had to abandon the Tour after an unfortunate accident on the second stage, while Diana Muscat and Danica Bonello Spiteri did not finish on the same stage due to mechanical problems.

In the Masters final stage, Daniele Arizzi (MTB ASD Rosolini – Sicilia) won the 36.8km stage in a sprint finish in 1:15:59, narrowly ahead of David Mitchinson (Sigma Sports Masters – UK), with Mario Marino taking third.

Overall Masters victory went to Carmelo Nicolosi (Team Sparkle Scicli – Sicilia) with a total time of 3:21:54, followed by Carmelo Aiello (3:22:10) and David Mitchinson (3:22:52). In the Maltese Masters Classification, Arec Kawalec of Team Greens topped the standings with 3:24:49, ahead of teammate (3:31:49) and Robert Zammit (3:49:20).

At the conclusion of the final stage, medals, trophies, and leaders’ jerseys were presented by Architect Censu Galea, Mayor of St Paul’s Bay, assisted by senior officials of the Malta Cycling Federation – President John Zammit, Secretary General Joe Bajada, and Treasurer Daniel Borg Olivier.
