Luke Said reaches the Quarter-Finals

Day five of the Nations Cup 2026 proved to be an intense one for the Maltese teams, with players representing the country registering mixed but largely encouraging results across various categories.
The Malta Men’s A team impressed with a convincing 18–7 victory over Gibraltar, before maintaining their momentum with a 14–11 win against Northern Ireland, a result that highlights the team’s consistency and overall quality.
In the Men’s B competition, Malta Men’s B endured a difficult start, losing 15–10 to Wales Men’s B, followed by another 10–15 defeat against Scotland B1. However, they responded strongly later in the day, securing a dominant 22–3 victory over Spain B1.
A notable performance also came from the Malta Seniors A team, who registered a solid 15–10 win over BAF Seniors A. They later added another important result with a hard-fought 13–12 victory against Australia A.
At youth level, Malta U23 A began well with a 15–10 win over Wales U23 B, but later suffered a narrow 12–13 defeat against Wales U23 A in a closely contested encounter.
On an individual level, Luke Said achieved an important 5–3 victory over Hugh Tomson, a result that sees him progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.
