Malta face tough away test against Northern Ireland in Euro qualifier

Malta women’s national football team are set to take on Northern Ireland women’s national football team in a UEFA European Qualifiers clash on Tuesday, with head coach Manuela Tesse leading her side into a challenging away fixture.
The match will be played at Mourneview Park, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 CET, and will be broadcast live on TVMSport+.
Malta head into the encounter focused and determined, having worked intensively on tactical organisation, discipline, and maintaining the strong team spirit shown in recent performances.
However, preparations have been disrupted by an injury to midfielder Lexine Farrugia, who has been ruled out of the match.
Speaking ahead of the game, Tesse highlighted the importance of concentration and adaptability against a well-drilled opponent, stressing the need to eliminate the lapses that proved costly in earlier fixtures.
Malta will be aiming to produce a solid performance and continue their development in League B against a competitive Northern Ireland side.
Experienced player Rachel Cuschieri acknowledged the challenge but remained confident:
“It’s going to be a difficult game. We know the qualities of Northern Ireland, but we also believe in our own strengths. We’re confident that we can give them a good game and make it difficult for them.”
The team remains committed to representing Malta with pride, determination, and a strong collective spirit.
