Inter Miami CF were denied a first victory at their new Nu Stadium once again on Saturday, as New York Red Bulls fought back from behind to secure a 2-2 draw.

Just a week after Lionel Messi and Miami were held to the same scoreline by Austin FC in their first match at the new ground, the young New York side became the latest visitors to leave with a result.

The visitors stunned the home crowd after just 15 minutes. Teenager Julian Hall produced excellent work down the right flank, stretching the Miami defence with a powerful run.

Hall drew in two defenders before squaring the ball to an unmarked Jorge Ruvalcaba, who calmly finished low past Miami goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair.

Inter Miami CF found an equaliser on the stroke of half-time, as Argentine forward Mateo Silvetti finished from close range after a well-delivered cross by Rodrigo De Paul.

Miami appeared to be growing into control after the break, and defender Maxi Falcon came agonisingly close to putting them ahead, but he sent a free header wide from another De Paul corner.

Both Lionel Messi and Silvetti then wasted further opportunities to edge Miami in front, before the breakthrough finally arrived in the 55th minute.

It was Argentine-born Mexico international forward German Berterame who completed the turnaround, giving Miami the lead with a composed finish.

Inter Miami CF regained the lead when German Berterame latched onto a pass that deflected off Adri Mehmeti before finishing low to make it 2-1.

New York Red Bulls believed they had drawn level midway through the half when Robert Voloder bundled the ball home from close range, but the effort was disallowed for offside following a VAR review.

The equaliser eventually arrived in the 77th minute. A superb twisting run from Julian Hall inside the box unsettled the Miami defence before he squared the ball for teenager Mehmeti, who slid in to make it 2-2.

In the closing stages, Miami pushed hard for a winner, with only a stunning diving save from Ethan Horvath denying Lionel Messi from a late free-kick in stoppage time.

The result leaves Inter Miami CF sitting third in the Eastern Conference standings, four points adrift of leaders Nashville SC, who secured a 2-1 victory over Charlotte FC on Saturday.
