MALTA…0
ANDORRA…5

The Malta Futsal National Team suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat against Andorra in a match where the visitors proved superior from start to finish. This result marks Andorra’s second emphatic win, following their 10-0 triumph over Scotland, underlining their excellent form in the competition, while Malta’s hopes of qualifying have now come to an end.

The match could not have started worse for Malta, as Andorra took the lead after just two minutes through Arnau Rodríguez. The early goal immediately set the tone, with Andorra applying constant pressure and creating several dangerous opportunities.

In the 13th minute, Christian Regalo doubled the lead after a well-worked move involving Adrià Blat. Just minutes later, in the 20th minute, Brayan Dos Santos made it 3-0 with a precise finish following an assist from Josep Segura. Malta attempted to respond through efforts by Matthew Borg and Aidan Buhagiar, but Andorra goalkeeper Maxim Pons was in excellent form, producing a number of important saves.

The second half continued in a similar fashion, with Andorra firmly in control. A key turning point came in the 27th minute when Malta goalkeeper Clint Mifsud was shown a red card for a foul on an Andorran player, leaving Malta with a numerical disadvantage at a crucial stage of the game.

Andorra capitalised on this advantage and added two more goals. Josep Segura made it 4-0 in the 29th minute, while Christian Regalo netted his second of the match in the 37th minute to seal a comprehensive 5-0 victory.

Despite the defeat, Malta showed brief moments of promise, particularly early in the second half, but a lack of precision in front of goal and defensive lapses proved costly.

Malta will now try to end the group on a high note when they face Scotland on Saturday 11th April, with kick-off at 12:00hrs.
