Aryna Sabalenka has withdrawn from this month’s Stuttgart Open after sustaining an injury following her Miami Open triumph in March, the world number one confirmed on Thursday.

The 27-year-old has had a strong but frustrating record at the Stuttgart Open, reaching the final four times in the past five years without lifting the title. She was defeated by Ash Barty in 2021, and by Iga Świątek in both 2022 and 2023, before losing to Jelena Ostapenko in 2025.

“Unfortunately, I picked up an injury after Miami, and despite doing everything I could to recover in time, I’m not ready to compete,” Sabalenka said via Instagram.

Sabalenka claimed the Miami Open title with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 victory over home favourite Coco Gauff in the final. That win also saw her become only the fifth woman to complete the prestigious Indian Wells and Miami “Sunshine Double” in consecutive fashion.

Aryna Sabalenka expressed her disappointment after being forced to delay the start of her clay-court season.

“I always enjoy returning to Stuttgart. The atmosphere, the fans, and the support I receive there are very special to me. I was really hoping to have another opportunity to compete,” Sabalenka added.
