Hockey: GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks return to winning ways

GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks returned to winning ways in the National Hockey Championship after defeating White Hart 10-3.
Żurrieq, who were coming off a 7-4 defeat to Qormi, showed their intentions from the outset. However, the first two quarters were closely contested, with Żurrieq leading 2-0 before White Hart fought back to level the score by the end of the second quarter.
Despite this, Żurrieq dominated the third and fourth quarters to secure maximum points from the encounter.
Alessandro Amore scored four goals, while Jayden Cutajar added a brace. Christ Agius, Lukas Plaehn, Daniel Ellul and Stefano Schembri also found the net.
White Hart replied through David Agius, Wyatt Magri and Glenn Bonello, who each scored once.
The match was officiated by umpire Karl Chircop.
In the Hockey 7s competition, Qormi Daikin had to work hard to overcome GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks 4-3.
Wyatt Magri scored twice, while Julian Zahra and Ayrton Falzon also got on the scoresheet. Nicolai Runza, Daniel Ellul and Jayden Cutajar scored for Żurrieq.
Umpires for this match were Karl Chircop and Shane Lovett.
In the Under-14 Championship, Qormi Daikin registered a dominant 10-0 win over Floriana Young Stars B.
Zackary Farrugia scored a hat-trick, while Zain Lee Carabott, Eyen Toledano and Sam Cassar each netted twice. Zack Xuereb added another goal for Qormi.
The match was officiated by Yan Camilleri and Xylon Cassar.
In another fixture from the same competition, Marsascala Heat defeated De La Salle Youngstars 2-0.
Liam Carabott was the standout performer, scoring both goals for Marsascala.
Umpires for this match were Alessandro Amore and Karl Chircop.
