Nottingham Forest ease past Spurs to pull clear of relegation zone

Tottenham Hotspur were dragged deeper into Premier League trouble after suffering a 3-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest, marking their fourth consecutive loss in this fixture.
A pre-match message of intent from Cristian Romero failed to spark Spurs in the early stages, as Forest settled into the contest more comfortably.
Tottenham gradually grew into the game and created the first clear chance when Mathys Tel’s corner found Richarlison, whose header flashed just wide of the target.
The hosts came even closer soon after in somewhat fortunate fashion, as Igor Jesus headed Kevin Danso’s long throw against his own post.
Spurs maintained pressure for much of the first half in a cautious, must-not-lose atmosphere, with clear chances proving difficult to come by.
However, their resistance was broken just before the interval when Forest struck against the run of play.
The opener came in straightforward fashion, as Igor Jesus rose highest at the back post to head Neco Williams’ corner back across goal and into the far corner, leaving Spurs manager Igor Tudor with plenty to consider at half-time.
Forest nearly added a second within 10 minutes of the restart when Neco Williams was left unmarked at the back post to meet Elliot Anderson’s delivery, but his header was struck straight at Guglielmo Vicario.
Tension was clearly building inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and that frustration soon turned into despair as the hosts fell two goals behind.
Callum Hudson-Odoi was instrumental in the build-up, beating his marker to reach the byline before pulling the ball back for former Tottenham target Morgan Gibbs-White, who calmly slotted home from close range.
Spurs offered little in response, with a powerful volley from Pape Matar Sarr—well blocked by Ibrahim Sangaré—the closest they came to reducing the deficit.
West Ham United’s defeat to Aston Villa spared Spurs the immediate drop into the bottom three, but Forest added a third in the closing stages through Taiwo Awoniyi, who turned in Williams’ cross. The late goal triggered a mass walkout and loud boos at full-time, leaving Igor Tudor under growing pressure after a damaging defeat.
