Cobolli overcomes Tiafoe in Acapulco Final to claim third ATP title

Italy’s Flavio Cobolli secured the third ATP Tour title of his career with a straight-sets victory over Frances Tiafoe at the Mexican Open in Acapulco on Saturday.
The world number 20 overcame a determined Tiafoe 7-6(4), 6-4 in a two-hour, nine-minute battle at the Arena GNP Seguros.
The first set proved tightly contested. Tiafoe saved a set point on his own serve at 5-4, but Cobolli dominated the tiebreak, racing to a 6-4 lead and sealing the set after Tiafoe sent a forehand wide.
In the second set, Cobolli immediately put pressure on Tiafoe, breaking serve to go 3-2 up and then holding for a 4-2 lead. He had a chance to extend his advantage with two break points in the next game, but Tiafoe held on.
Tiafoe briefly regained momentum, leveling the set at 4-4 after a Cobolli forehand clipped the net and went long. However, Cobolli responded instantly, breaking back to lead 5-4 and then holding serve to clinch the match.
The victory marks another milestone in Cobolli’s career, highlighting his growing consistency on the ATP Tour.
