Kane breaks personal record as Bayern edge Dortmund in epic to go 11 points clear

Harry Kane became the first player since 2001 to score multiple goals in four consecutive Bundesliga matches, with his brace helping FC Bayern Munich move 11 points clear at the top following a thrilling 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker.
The timing of this high-stakes clash was pivotal in determining whether a genuine Bundesliga title race could develop with just 10 games remaining in the season.
At a raucous Signal Iduna Park, Michael Olise came closest to opening the scoring early on, but his left-footed strike was smartly parried away by Gregor Kobel.
The hosts also survived a tense moment when Nico Schlotterbeck’s studs-up challenge caught Josip Stanisic, earning only a yellow card. That incident proved significant, as Schlotterbeck later rose to meet a precise Daniel Svensson free-kick with a perfect header, giving Dortmund the lead in the 26th minute and extending their remarkable record of scoring in all 24 Bundesliga matches this season.
The match continued at a breathless pace, with Maximilian Beier nearly doubling Dortmund’s advantage, only to see his close-range effort blocked. Bayern, despite dominating possession, struggled to convert chances and could have fallen further behind early in the second half had Jonathan Tah not made a crucial block on Svensson inside the box.
Bayern gradually responded, with Dayot Upamecano narrowly missing to tap in Serge Gnabry’s delivery at the far post. The breakthrough arrived from a familiar source: Kane calmly slotted a left-footed strike after Gnabry nodded Joshua Kimmich’s lofted pass into his path, restoring parity.
Dortmund pressed again, with Beier and Yan Couto coming close to regaining the lead. But Bayern were awarded a penalty when Schlotterbeck clipped Stanisic, and Kane converted from the spot to reach his 30th Bundesliga goal of the season — 45 in all competitions — surpassing his previous single-season club record of 44 goals in 45 appearances.
Just as Kane seemed destined to be the match-winner, Svensson produced a sensational first-time left-footed volley from Marcel Sabitzer’s cross to level the score again for Dortmund.
The final twist fell in Bayern’s favour. Kimmich unleashed a brilliant left-footed volley to secure the 3-2 victory, ending Dortmund’s 16-match unbeaten league run and severely denting their title hopes.
