Red Bull director Oliver Mintzlaff dismisses reports of Jürgen Klopp’s exit

Red Bull director Oliver Mintzlaff has strongly denied claims that Jürgen Klopp is set to leave his role as Head of Global Soccer at the company. “That’s complete nonsense and totally unfounded,” Mintzlaff told SID, responding to a report by Salzburger Nachrichten suggesting Klopp was “increasingly under scrutiny.”
In fact, Mintzlaff praised Klopp’s contributions, saying: “We are extremely satisfied with Jurgen Klopp’s work. He puts in a tremendous amount of effort, is in constant communication with our coaches and sporting directors, and is continuously developing our Red Bull football philosophy. We are convinced he is the right man for this job. That’s where we are focusing all our attention and energy.”
The media report had sparked speculation that Klopp, just over a year into his role at Red Bull, was “no longer undisputed,” with Salzburger Nachrichten even asking: “Is Jurgen Klopp about to leave Red Bull?”
Austrian coach Oliver Glasner, currently at Crystal Palace FC, was mentioned as a potential replacement and reportedly “at the very top of the wish list” if Klopp departed. However, Mintzlaff confirmed that such a scenario is not on the cards.
Klopp, who achieved major successes with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool FC, has recently been linked by media outlets to top clubs like Real Madrid CF following their split with Xabi Alonso.
“As a person, I’m at a point where I’m completely happy with my situation. I don’t want to be anywhere else,” Klopp told AFP. “If that’s even the case – but those are just media speculations.”
