Bologna FC 1909 ended their four-match losing streak in Serie A with a hard-fought 2-1 victory away to Torino FC, lifting the Rossoblu back into the top half of the table and reigniting their push for European qualification.

A cagey opening period saw both sides struggle to find rhythm, but it was the visitors who produced the first effort on target. Santiago Castro’s close-range header forced a routine save from Alberto Paleari after 20 minutes. Moments later, Federico Bernardeschi burst forward on a dazzling 30-yard run that unsettled Torino’s backline, though his eventual effort lacked power and was comfortably gathered by the goalkeeper.

Bologna grew in confidence as the half progressed. Bernardeschi tested Paleari again with a well-struck effort from 15 yards that required a sharp stop, before Jonathan Rowe squandered a golden opportunity by dragging a close-range shot wide. Torino, meanwhile, offered little going forward and failed to register a single shot on target before the break, relying on their defensive resilience to remain level at half-time.

The deadlock was finally broken shortly after the restart. A fortunate deflection off a Torino defender fell kindly for Nikola Moro, who reacted quickly to guide a clever finish from six yards beyond Paleari and hand Vincenzo Italiano’s side a deserved lead.

Bologna continued to press and nearly doubled their advantage before the hour mark when Simon Sohm’s close-range strike was brilliantly palmed away by Paleari. However, the momentum swung in the 62nd minute as Torino found an equaliser through Nikola Vlašić. Dušan Zapata’s powerful effort was parried by Lukasz Skorupski, but Vlašić reacted fastest to convert the rebound for his sixth league goal of the season.

The Rossoblu responded with determination and restored their advantage with 20 minutes remaining. Castro capped an impressive display by steering a precise finish into the bottom corner, just beyond Paleari’s reach, to make it 2-1.

Torino pushed for a late equaliser but were unable to break down a disciplined Bologna defence. The final whistle confirmed three vital points for the visitors.

The defeat leaves Torino 14th in the Serie A standings, six points clear of the relegation zone, with a trip to Genoa CFC up next as they look to bounce back. For Bologna, the win lifts them three places to eighth and breathes new life into their hopes of securing European football next season.
