Juventus crashed out of Coppa Italia after 3-0 loss to Atalanta

Atalanta produced an impressive display to defeat Juventus 3-0 and book their place in the Coppa Italia semi-finals, extending their unbeaten run against the Bianconeri to four consecutive competitive meetings since losing the 2024 final.
Juventus began brightly and almost took the lead inside the opening seconds when Francisco Conceicao slipped Khephren Thuram through on goal, but the midfielder guided his effort wide. Moments later, Manuel Locatelli saw a powerful strike blocked by Berat Djimsiti as the visitors continued to press early on.
Atalanta gradually grew into the contest, with Charles De Ketelaere and Davide Zappacosta both denied by crucial defensive interventions from Lloyd Kelly. Conceicao remained a constant threat, delivering a dangerous cross that Jonathan David headed wide before forcing goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi into action following Weston McKennie’s long throw. The winger later struck the crossbar after cutting inside.
The breakthrough arrived in the 27th minute when Gleison Bremer was penalised for handball following a VAR review. Gianluca Scamacca calmly converted the resulting penalty, sending Mattia Perin the wrong way to give Atalanta the lead.
Juventus pushed for a response before the interval. Bremer narrowly missed with a header, Honest Ahanor blocked McKennie’s effort, and Locatelli’s free-kick drifted wide, allowing Atalanta to head into half-time with their advantage intact.
The visitors continued their search for an equaliser after the break, but Djimsiti made a vital clearance to deny Pierre Kalulu, while Ederson blocked Federico Gatti’s close-range attempt. Despite their pressure, Juventus struggled to find a breakthrough.
Debutant Jeremie Boga was introduced just after the hour mark for his first appearance since November and added energy to Atalanta’s attack. However, Juventus remained wasteful, with McKennie firing wide and Kelly heading over from Boga’s cross.
Atalanta then sealed the contest through two substitutes. Seven minutes after coming on, Kamaldeen Sulemana turned home Raoul Bellanova’s cross to double the lead. Moments later, Mario Pasalic made an immediate impact of his own, collecting Nikola Krstovic’s pass and finishing into the bottom corner.
The late goals secured only Atalanta’s second win in their last six matches in all competitions and set up a semi-final meeting with either Bologna or Lazio.
The result also brought an end to Juventus’ five-match unbeaten run and condemned them to consecutive Coppa Italia quarter-final exits, underlining another disappointing cup campaign for the Turin giants.
