Kalkara United strengthened their grip at the top of the BOV Amateur League II standings with a commanding 3-0 victory over Gharghur at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday, opening up an eight-point lead at the summit.

Mario Jude Dominicus gave Kalkara an early advantage after 14 minutes, before Ryan Dalli doubled the lead on 34 minutes. The points were safely secured late on when Miguel Perez Jimenez added a third goal ten minutes from time.

Dingli Swallows climbed into second place after beating Marsaskala 2-0, also at the Sirens Stadium. Andie Sammut broke the deadlock on 37 minutes, with Ronaldinho Daley sealing the win midway through the second half.

Msida St Joseph dropped points in a 1-1 draw against Mdina Knights at the Charles Abela Stadium. Kurt Zammit put Msida ahead from the penalty spot on 40 minutes, but Jordan Vella restored parity for Mdina with 12 minutes remaining.

St George’s produced an impressive display to defeat Rabat Ajax 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Aaron Agius opened the scoring from the spot on 18 minutes, Jaden Camilleri added a second five minutes later, and an own goal shortly before half-time put the result beyond doubt.

At the Charles Abela Stadium, Ta’ Xbiex earned a comfortable 2-0 win over Siggiewi, with goals from Andrei Spiteri after 15 minutes and Victor Hugo Alves on 32 minutes.

In another match at the same venue, Santa Venera Lightnings came from behind to beat Ghaxaq 2-1. Shamisen Buhagiar gave Ghaxaq an early lead after four minutes, but Ayrton Buhagiar levelled matters on 35 minutes before Desire Koiba struck the winner on 63 minutes.

Following these results, Kalkara United lead the standings with 36 points, ahead of Dingli Swallows on 28 and Msida St Joseph on 27. Ta’ Xbiex are fourth on 24 points, followed by Mdina Knights (20), Rabat Ajax (19), Siggiewi (17), St George’s (15), Marsaskala and Gharghur (9), Ghaxaq (8) and Santa Venera Lightnings (6).
