David Azzopardi has been elected Deputy President of the Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC) following an Extraordinary General Meeting attended by the Committee’s affiliated member federations.

The election was held in line with the Maltese Olympic Committee’s Statute and Electoral Regulations and was contested by Azzopardi, Dr Kirill Micallef Stafrace and Dr John Vella.

Azzopardi emerged victorious after securing 35 votes and will serve as Deputy President until the end of the current Olympic quadrennial.

In Wednesday’s vote, Dr Micallef Stafrace obtained 25 votes, while Dr Vella received six.

The Maltese Olympic Committee thanked all three candidates for putting their names forward, praising their readiness to dedicate their time, experience and commitment to the Maltese sporting community and the ongoing development of sport in Malta.
