Valletta Hit Five to Begin Closing Round in Style Against Mosta

Valletta launched their Closing Round campaign in emphatic fashion, cruising to a dominant 5–0 victory over Mosta.
The Citizens wasted little time in asserting themselves, taking the lead after just three minutes when Thaylor Aldama capitalised on a precise pass from Yuri Messias and volleyed home with confidence.
Despite controlling possession and creating a steady stream of chances, Valletta were unable to extend their advantage before the break. Mosta attempted to respond and went close midway through the half when Cheick Diamanka released Zachary Brincat, whose low effort was well saved by goalkeeper Adilson Maringa. The visitors also threatened again shortly before half-time through Pedro Cacho, but his effort flew over the bar.
Valletta, meanwhile, spurned several opportunities to double their lead, with Yannick Yankam and Steijn Meijer both going close as Mosta goalkeeper Akpan kept his side in contention.
The hosts returned from the interval with renewed intensity and continued to press for a second goal. Meijer and Messias both came close as Valletta pinned Mosta back, and the pressure finally told 12 minutes from time. Aldama delivered an inviting cross which was met by Emanuel Mbende, who headed past Akpan to make it 2–0.
From that moment on, the match opened up and Valletta took full advantage. Substitute Andrea Zammit made an immediate impact, rounding the goalkeeper on a quick break before firing home in the 85th minute. Deep into stoppage time, Zammit struck twice more – first calmly chipping Akpan after being played through by Jake Azzopardi, and then tapping in from close range following a Mellilo cross – to complete a superb hat-trick.
It was a commanding performance from Valletta, who underlined their attacking depth and intent as they began the Closing Round in style.
