The 2026 RMYC Winter Series powered by Beneteau came to an exciting close on Saturday afternoon, with the fifth and final race of the competition contested around the Munxar Cardinal Mark.

With the discard score coming into effect for the final standings, several positions remained undecided heading into the concluding race, setting up a thrilling finale.

Kixx Me Claims IRC Overall Title

In the IRC Class, Anthony Calleja’s L’Artista had been in contention for overall honours, but damage sustained earlier this month ruled the J99 out of the final race. That opened the door for Luis Azzopardi’s Kixx Me to secure the overall class victory.

A second-place finish in Saturday’s race was enough for the IMX44 to move to the top of the standings on 11 points.

David Anastasi’s Pippus finished level on points with the winners after placing third in the final race, while Jonathan Gambin’s TonTon Laferla claimed victory on the day once again. However, having missed the opening two rounds of the series, TonTon Laferla had to settle for third overall.

Forever 25 Takes Club Class Honours

In the RMYC Club Class, Dennis Gatt’s Sophie’s Choice won the final race, ahead of Ali Namli’s Exaltor in second place and Matthew Zarb Cousin’s Thunder Child in third.

A fourth-place finish proved enough for Martin Kunath’s Forever 25 to clinch the overall series title, finishing two points clear of Thunder Child, while Exaltor completed the overall podium in third.

Strongest Fleet Yet

RMYC Rear Commodore (Sailing) Adrian Gauci Borda praised the level of participation throughout the competition.

“The Winter Series powered by Beneteau has arguably featured one of the strongest fleets ever seen in the event, with 19 boats competing across the series. We now look forward to building on that momentum,” he said.

The club also thanked Mediterranean Yacht Sales, the exclusive representatives of the Beneteau brand in Malta, for their support.

The next event on the club’s calendar will be the Paymix Pro Ragusa Regatta, scheduled to take place between May 1 and May 3.
