Belgium wrapped up their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in impressive fashion, cruising to a 5-0 victory over fellow finalists Tunisia in Brussels and extending their unbeaten streak to 13 matches.

Backed by their home supporters, the Red Devils started brightly and were rewarded midway through the first half when Leandro Trossard opened the scoring.

The move was created by Manchester City winger Jérémy Doku, who displayed excellent skill and close control to break into the penalty area and beat Adem Arous before setting up Trossard for a straightforward finish.

Buoyed by the breakthrough, Belgium continued to dominate. Shortly after netting his 12th international goal, Trossard watched as Kevin De Bruyne tested goalkeeper Mouhib Chamakh with a powerful effort. The Belgian captain then delivered a dangerous cross into the box, but Brandon Mechele was unable to convert, directing his header off target.

Belgium’s attacking intensity kept Tunisia under pressure throughout the opening period as they looked to head into the World Cup with momentum firmly on their side.

Although Belgium held only a one-goal advantage at half-time, their dominance continued after the restart and a second goal soon followed.

Just eight minutes into the second half, Charles De Ketelaere doubled the hosts’ lead with a powerful header. The forward rose highest to meet a floated cross from Youri Tielemans, directing his effort beyond goalkeeper Mouhib Chamakh to score his fourth goal in five international matches.

With a comfortable two-goal cushion established, Belgium’s intensity briefly dipped, allowing Tunisia a rare opportunity to threaten. Elias Achouri came close to reducing the deficit when his effort struck the woodwork, providing a reminder that the visitors still posed a danger despite spending much of the match on the back foot.

Any hopes Tunisia had of mounting a comeback disappeared when Ismael Gharbi was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a reckless sliding challenge.

With their opponents reduced to 10 men, Belgium took complete control of the contest. Kevin De Bruyne added a third goal with a clinical strike from the edge of the penalty area, putting the result beyond doubt.

The Red Devils continued to press in the closing stages, and two substitutes added further gloss to the scoreline. Dodi Lukebakio bundled the ball home from close range before Nicolas Raskin capped the performance with a composed finish into the bottom corner after reacting quickest to a loose ball.

The emphatic 5-0 victory gives Belgium plenty of momentum and confidence heading into their World Cup opener against Egypt on June 15.

Tunisia, meanwhile, will look to put this disappointing result behind them as they prepare for their tournament opener against Sweden.
