Ħamrun SC Secure Sixth-Place Finish in Beach Soccer Euro Winners Challenge 2026
Ħamrun SC concluded their Beach Soccer Euro Winners Challenge 2026 campaign with a sixth-place finish after suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat to Greek side Kefallinia AO BS in the fifth-place play-off in Nazaré, Portugal.
The encounter was evenly contested throughout. Kefallinia took the lead through Katsoulis before William restored parity for the Maltese side with the equaliser.
Ħamrun started the third period in ideal fashion as William struck again to give his team a 2-1 advantage. However, the Greek side responded almost immediately, with Faros bringing the scores level before Karakasis netted what proved to be the winning goal to seal a 3-2 victory for Kefallinia.
Despite the defeat, Ħamrun SC can reflect positively on an impressive European campaign. The Maltese side won all of its group-stage matches to advance to the quarter-finals and ultimately finished sixth in the competition, a commendable achievement against strong international opposition.
