Brazil Edge Egypt in Cleveland Friendly Ahead of World Cup

Brazil will head into the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the back of three straight victories after a 2-1 win over Egypt in their final warm-up match.
The five-time world champions arrived in Cleveland with momentum already building, having recorded successive friendly wins against Croatia and Panama. They made a fast start once again, opening the scoring after just seven minutes.
A loose touch from Mohanad Lasheen following Mostafa Shobeir’s clearance was punished, as Bruno Guimarães reacted quickly and placed a composed finish into the bottom-right corner.
Brazil looked set to take control after the early breakthrough, but Egypt responded swiftly. Just four minutes later, Mostafa Ziko pounced on a careless backpass from Marquinhos, intercepting before calmly finishing past Alisson to level the match and continue his strong international form.
Carlo Ancelotti was then handed a setback when Wesley França picked up an injury and was forced off during a frantic opening spell, as both sides traded early chances in an entertaining start.
Brazil began to settle into their rhythm as the first half progressed, with Vinícius Júnior and Igor Thiago both testing Mostafa Shobeir, who produced key saves to keep Egypt level. Vinícius also appealed for a penalty just before the break after going down in the box under pressure from Mohamed Hany, but the referee waved play on.
Carlo Ancelotti made eight substitutions at half-time, and one of the changes had an immediate impact. Seven minutes into the second half, Brazil restored their lead through Endrick.
The move was started by Raphinha, who drove down the left with a mazy run before cutting the ball back for Endrick. The young forward made no mistake, finishing first time past Shobeir to put Brazil back in front.
Mohamed Salah was among four half-time changes made by Egypt and immediately looked to influence the game, attempting a speculative long-range effort that took a deflection before sailing over the bar.
In the end, it was a professional performance from Brazil, who appear to be building momentum at the perfect time following a difficult qualification campaign.
The victory will boost confidence ahead of their World Cup opener against Morocco. For Egypt, the defeat brings an end to a three-match unbeaten run as they prepare for their first group-stage fixture against Belgium.
