Spain Showcase World Cup Potential With Convincing Victory Over Peru

Spain defeated Peru 3-1 on Monday in their final World Cup warm-up match, offering thousands of fans in Puebla a glimpse of one of the tournament favourites just days before the global showpiece begins.
Mikel Oyarzabal put Spain ahead after just two minutes with a powerful strike from the edge of the box, before Pedri doubled the lead shortly after the half-hour mark, tapping into an empty net after a cross from Ferran Torres.
Spain extended their advantage early in the second half when Yeremy Pino’s delivery caused goalkeeper Pedro Gallese to make an error, allowing the ball to go in. Peru responded through Jairo Velez, who finished low to pull one back.
World Cup excitement was clear around the stadium, with Spain shirts dominating the stands alongside Barcelona jerseys, highlighting the club’s strong presence in Luis de la Fuente’s squad.
Although outnumbered, Peru supporters remained vocal throughout the match.
Pedri, Rodri, and Ferran Torres were among the most warmly received players, earning loud cheers as fans sang chants and carried out Mexican waves around the stadium.
Outside the venue, World Cup merchandise stalls filled the surrounding streets, while strict security measures did little to reduce the lively, celebratory atmosphere.
The tournament is set to begin on Thursday.
