Bernardo Silva has reportedly completed the formalities of his move to Real Madrid ahead of a summer switch to the Spanish giants.

The Portuguese midfielder is set to leave Manchester City when his contract expires at the end of June and is preparing for a new chapter in Madrid at the age of 31.

Silva is expected to be officially unveiled by Real Madrid in the coming days, joining a squad that has also been strengthened by the arrivals of Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella.

The club is undergoing a significant overhaul under Jose Mourinho following two consecutive seasons without silverware, prompting the board to invest heavily in the transfer market.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that Silva has agreed terms with Real Madrid, with the deal now understood to be fully completed.

Romano wrote: “BREAKING: Bernardo Silva has officially signed his Real Madrid contract.

“The ‘Here we go’ from last week is now confirmed, with the Portuguese midfielder joining on an initial two-year deal plus an option to extend. José Mourinho was keen to bring him to the club.”

Silva will bring an end to a glittering nine-year spell at Manchester City, having played a key role in one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. During his time at the Etihad, he helped City win every major trophy available, including six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.

Real Madrid’s fierce rivals, Barcelona, had long been considered the favourites to secure the Portuguese international’s signature ahead of next season. However, the Catalan club were unable to advance negotiations quickly enough, allowing Madrid to swoop in and complete the deal.
