Steve Borg to be honoured in presentation ceremony after injury rules him out of final Malta appearance

What was meant to be Steve Borg’s final appearance for the Malta national team will now take a different turn, as the veteran defender has been ruled out of tomorrow’s match against Bosnia & Herzegovina due to an injury sustained during the MD-1 training session.
The Malta Football Association has confirmed that a presentation ceremony will be held before kick-off to honour Borg’s outstanding contribution and unwavering commitment to the national side throughout his career.

In a statement, the MFA extended its heartfelt support to Steve and wished him a full and speedy recovery. Despite being unable to take the field one last time, Borg’s legacy and dedication to Maltese football will be celebrated in front of the home crowd.
Meanwhile, National Team Coach Emilio De Leo has opted to release Andrew Borg and Keyon Ewurum to join the Malta Under-21 squad. The pair will be available for selection ahead of the UEFA European Championship Group F qualifier against Georgia, scheduled for Tuesday, 14th October, at the Centenary Stadium (kick-off at 7:00pm).
Borg’s absence will undoubtedly be felt, but the night will remain a special occasion one that pays tribute to a player who has given so much to the national team over the years.
